A data center veteran with two decades experience, AJ served as president of Rogers Data Centers and has led ROOT to its industry leading position.
With 20 years of experience in the data center industry, AJ has proven skills in business transformation and growth. Recently, as president of Rogers Data Centers he led the team in the development of one of Canada’s largest data center service companies with 15 centers nationally.
As executive VP of Primus, he guided its transition from a legacy telecom provider to a full solution technology services organization. He has also long been a pioneering force in the industry. As COO at Magma Communications, he was instrumental in building one of Canada’s first internet data centers.
Accredited Tier Designer, creative engineer and innovative spirit, Jason doesn’t just keep ROOT in front of industry trends – he helps set them.
Jason is an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer with a passion for designing innovative data centers. A colocation professional since 2007, he has engineered data centers at Rogers, formerly Primus, and Cologix, formerly Telehouse. Prior to ROOT, Jason founded Planus Corp, a data center design and engineering firm, and co-founded Granite Networks, Ottawa’s first Tier 3 colocation data center that was later sold to Rogers.
He was also a data center consultant at Bell and Telus, and an advisor to publicly traded companies on data center acquisition strategies. Jason grew up in the suburbs of Ottawa, earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Carleton University, and a Professional Engineer certification in Ontario.
A data center sales executive with international experience, Mike helps organizations build a global footprint.
Mike is responsible for ROOT’s largest wholesale colocation customers, while cultivating the firm’s international partnerships. Prior to joining ROOT, he served as VP of global business development at Q9 Networks.
Mike brings an international pedigree to ROOT, having spent five years living and working in Europe. Leading business development for the International Data Center Group, Mike established partnerships with data centers in emerging markets in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
Mike later became involved in IXcellerate, a start-up data center company in Moscow where, as commercial director, he helmed sales and marketing with a focus on developing international customers looking for retail and wholesale data center space in Russia.
Mike holds a B.Comm from McGill University and a MSc in global politics from the London School of Economics.
A seasoned finance professional (CPA/CA), Catherine brings her experience in growing high-tech companies to ROOT.
Catherine is a senior executive with extensive experience in growing mid-sized, high technology companies, at both the public and private level. She brings experience and expertise in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, strategic business planning, financial and operational management and contract negotiation to her role.
In addition to her role as CFO of Root Data Center, Catherine is also CFO of TekSavvy Solutions Inc. Prior to joining TekSavvy, Catherine held the CFO position at Pinnaca, a worldwide provider of visual collaboration services, Panorama Software, a global software development company, and Newstar Technologies Inc., a managed service provider of hosted banking and business solutions. Catherine is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Chartered Accountant and holds a Hon. BComm from the University of Windsor, and a BA from the University of Western Ontario.
Ron is a proven leader with over 18 years of experience in data hosting operations where he specializes in the design, construction and operations of mission critical facilities and driving improvements in operational efficiency.
Ron has been in VP level roles for the last 15 years and most recently was responsible for 15 internet data centers totaling 150,000 sq. ft and 50 mW across Canada. Specializations include client facing service models, the ITIL framework and industry certifications such as SSAE 16, PCI and the Uptime Institute. His preventative maintenance programs and strict operational practices have rewarded him with a career of effectively 100% uptime facilities.
He graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Applied Science—Mechanical Engineering degree and is an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Specialist.
